The mirto harvest has started in Italy.

This weekend we picked the little blue berries to bring them to our neighbor from Sardinia who will make a housemade mirto liqueur for him (and a bottle for us).

Mirto is an Italian Myrtle liqueur made from myrtle berries from Sardinia. November is the season to pick the dark blue berries. The mirto berries themselves don’t taste good. But you can use mirto berries for cooking – and for drinking !

Our personal harvest is really small and not for sale. But if you want to try the real Mirto from Sardinia try our wonderful Mirto di Sardegna Zedda Piras.
