After the terrible earthquake in Central Italy farmers are desperately asking for help.

“Barack and Michelle Obama, please help us and buy our prosciutto” – this is what Ada Fausti a pig farmer from Norcia says after the devastating earthquake has destryoed one of the most beautyful small towns in Italy.

The October earthquakes have not only destroyed churches and homes. The shockwaves have also devastated the food storages in this part of Umbria. Lentils, sausages, prosciutto – they all have to be sold fast. Otherwise they might rotten away. This is why a lot of people in Italy are now buying out of solidarity products of the hard hit region around Norcia.

Michelle and Barack Obama are Fausti’s last hope. He raises the pigs almost freely on pasture.

It has been only a few weeks since he has sent a real Norcia prosciutto to the presidential couple Obama when Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi visited the White House.  Michelle Obama had let him know how much she appreciated the prosciutto from Umbria. “We invite Barack and Michelle Obama to Norcia”, says Fausti. “We are waiting for you. Since soon the president will have less work to do, why not help us?”, asks Fausti.

The town of Norcia is famous for their “norcineria” – their art of preparing all kind of sausages and bacon.
