Padlocks as a symbol of love:

Italians have their own special way to show their love: Padlocks.

After the teenager movie “Ho voglia di te” Italians in love flocked to the Milvio bridge on the river Tiber in Rome to imitate the actors in the movie who put a padlock as their sign of love on a pole on a street light on the Ponte Milvio.

The new traditions was so successful that the street lamp broke down under the weight of the padlocks. And the city of Rome had to put special poles close to the street lights so lover could attach their padlocks.

But not only in Rome, but everywhere in the country Italians use the recent tradition of promising their love.
