Italians and their tomatoes
Category: Curiosities, Food, Italy
One of the most surprising things in Italy is the variety of tomatoes.
There ist not just the big round one and the cherry tomato, as you might think. No, there is the Occhio di bue (bull`s eye) the San Marzano tomato, the long one for the sauce and so many ore.
And there is the “Camone” tomato from Sardegna as seen on the market today. A tasty type that groes also late in the year.
Of course the Italians didn`invent the tomato. Colombus brought it back from the Americas. But they sure have cultivated it in a way that you have to admire.
