FEW TIPS FOR SHOPPING REALLY “GREEN”…
Nowadays the paradigma of the“Green economy” is more than fancy for a few, but it’s a lifestyle asked by millions of people, consumers or not: save the planet!.
Lots of companies have jumped into the business. They have been acting with laziness, lack of responsibility; just simply beacause they were running out of money to invest, they decided to “convert” their products in “green” to attract more customers. This is it.
They decided to include in their labels statements like “organic food”, “sustainable”, “eco-friendly”, and so on and so forth. We do not want listen to empty words anymore. They have to be crystal clear with evidence of acting on a good way.
Here are some simple tips for a careful and truly sustainable shop:
– Pay attention to the labels on generic terms such as “green product”, “protecting nature“, “natural” or “environmentally friendly“, without there being any further specification.
– Pay attention to sensational numbers shown: the companies that claim must then prove sustainable energy savings or resources;
– The recycled content of the product should be kept well clear and recognizable label with their impact (ex. “30% recycled material).
– Be alert against sensational advertising campaigns of certain companies. It could cost double than spend more in promotions rather than in “!!”.
– Check the corporate website: not all information might be shown on the packaging. Meanwhile, a truly sustainable company provides all the tools so that anyone can access information on the Company profile (if the information is true, of course).
People are becoming more aware and active in respect of their health: We just ask for clarity and transparency.
