Remember Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet ? Well, their city is Verona.

So Verona  is THE Valentine city in Italy. You can hardly get any more romatic.

The tourism offica knows that and so they don’t limit themselves to a Valentine’s day. No, they go for a Valentine’s week. In the whole week before 14th February, streets in  are decorated with red hearts covering street lamps. And red heart shaped balloons are handed to people walking in town.

And on february 14th it all culminates in a LOVE LETTER CONTEST. At Juliet’s house – where else? – the best love letter is awarded with the prize of the “Juliet’s Club” to the most romantic writer.
