Sagra in Umbria, Italy

A new season has started in Italy: Sagra Season.

“Sagras” are small food festivals where mostly small villages present their specialties from cherries like the “Sagra della Ciliegia” in San Martino nella Collina to mushrooms, torta al testo, truffle or wild boar.

Especially in Central Italy almost every town or village organizes one sagra which usually lasts 10 days.

So if you travel through Italy keep your eyes open for “Sagra” signs and “Sagra” advertising.

Often you don’t just get great food and wine at a very reasonable price.  After dinner there is also “liscio” dancing you can watch or enjoy it yourself. Especially among the older generation of Italians there are remarkable dancers who seem to fly over the dance floor.
