Spatola or Sciabola (Scabbard) fish have these names because they remind you of those old medieval weapons.

The Spatola or Sciabola (Scabbard) fish lives in the sea around Southern Italy around Sicily, Sardegna and Campagna and – now comes the best part – it is  unexpensive, because few people know it.

My favorite fishmonger  at the market praises it as one of his favourite fishes. But people don’t trust him.
