Italian recipe: The making of peperoncino marmelade
We are sure you know strawberry marmelade, cherry marmelade or even fig marmelade.
But have you ever heard of peperoncino marmelade ?

Here is what you can do, if you have some spicy peperoncino at hand. Francesco has grown his own in his garden. Then he put himself to work.
Carefully with gloves on, of course. Because you don’t want to touch these spicy little vegetables with your hand and then accidently rub your eyes.
In order to make the marmelade not too spicy, Francesco added some tiny sweet peppers and cooked it all with a good amount of sugar to have enough peperoncino marmelade for the year to come. Because you can be sure: You don’t want to overdo it with peperoncino marmelade.

Here is the recipe:
200 g Fresh spicy red Peperoncino
800 g red sweet bell peppers
500 g brown sugar
a little bit of salt
50 ml red wine (if you do it with yellow peperoncino take dry white wine )
Peperoncino marmelade tastes phantastic on a strong Italian cheese like pecorino.
Unfortunately at ByItaly we don’t sell peperoncino marmelade. So you have to give it a try at home.
Grazie to the photographer Francesco Bastianelli, who cooked the marmelade and took these wonderfull pictures
