The truffle season has started in Italy.

Truffle dogs are flocking to the countryside to find the precious little truffles like here in Umbria.

In Umbria eating truffles has a long tradition. Usually truffles are too expensive for most consumers. They are used in the highest of high cuisine. But in some parts of Northern Italy and Umbria where “tartufi” are a key ingredient in local dishes. Specially trained truffle dogs are able to smell the precious bulbs hidden in the ground.

Be aware: A real truffle searcher will never tell you where he found the little precious truffles. He would rather send you the wrong way.
