Product Description


    Nocino is a liqueur produced in various countries of Europe obtained from the husk of the nuts, by infusion in alcohol. In Italy is very popular; especially in Emilia-Romagna region, and it is a must after the main meal in the area of Modena.
    To produce the authentic Nocino, it is necessary to use the small unripe nuts picked from the plant in early summer, when they are still soft enough to be cut in slices. Producers usually choose 20/25 hulls, wash them under running water and cut into slices. Further, hulls are poured into a non-metallic container (preferably made by glass), then left to marinate covered with brandy for a variable period. After soaking, the mixture is filtered and get ready to be bottled for aging: a process that can vary from 2 months to several years. The liquor obtained usually has an alcohol content higher than 30 °alc./vol. and a very dark greenish brown color.
