Product Description

    Tasting notes

A light golden yellow with notes of bread crusts on the nose and palate.

At the end of winter, after a first fermentation which transformed the grapes into wine, the wine undergoes a second fermentation, this time in bottle (after the addition of  small quantities of sugar and yeasts). The operation takes place in the firm’s temperature-controlled cellars in San Casciano Val di Pesa near Florence. The wine is then aged for approximately 18 months on its lees. At the end of this period the, wine is placed in the traditional "pupitres" in the same temperature-controlled cellars  and remain there for three weeks. “Dégorgement" and a following three month period of bottle aging precede commercial release.

    Historical data

Antinori produced its first classic-method sparkling wine in 1905 after a visit  to Champagne on the part of Piero Antinor’s grandfather. He invited Lucien Charlemagne, a renowned producer of Champagne in Epernay, to visit the Antinori cellars in San Casciano in Val di Pesa and to produce a Champagne-style ("methode champenoise") sparkling wine. Antinori currently produces two classic-method sparkling wines, Marchese Antinori Nature e Marchese Antinori Brut Millesimato, the latter only in exceptional vintages and with a high percentage of Chardonnay and a lengthy aging period on its lees before bottling and release.
