Product Description

    Wine cellar

Firriato tells the story of an age-old melody lost in time, which rediscovers its wonderful glory in a wine that is a symbol of the liquid heart of Sicily.
The melodic notes of Ribeca, named after the rebec, the forerunner of the violin, are seductive thanks to the captivating simplicity of the Perricone grapes. This wine preserves the enchanting personality of a variety that is not very widespread but is rich in history and, after years of absence, only Firriato has had the heroic inclination to plant again on the Pianoro Cuddìa  estate. Perricone is the most demanding variety, with small grapes and uncertain yields that vary from year to year. Difficulty in adapting to soils means Pianoro Cuddìa is the only estate with land that can provide the high level of quality needed for Perricone, however it is a constant challenge for Firriato.
The grapes of this autochthonous variety create a harmonious symphony on the palate, enhanced by the sensuality of small red berries that allow you to lose yourself in the timeless contemplation of the past and what the future may bring.

    Tasting notes

Colour: deep, dark ruby red with a purplish hue.
Nose: the complexity of the bouquet offers a captivating revelation of delicate notes of blackberries, plums and Marasca cherries, accompanied by sensitive nuances of liquorice, ginger, cloves and juniper berries. Unrivalled riches fragrant with Sicilian character.
Palate: fresh and irresistible tannins enhance the elegance and sumptuousness of a wine that knows it shines with inimitable charm. Its fruitiness is vivacious and ambitious, nicely balanced with a reduced and pleasant acidity. A clean palate is needed to enjoy its authentic fullness.
Characteristics: the exclusive nature of its grapes makes Ribeca a wine of unbeatable character. Decisive and excellent in its individuality, it immediately captures the curiosity and pleasure of those privileged enough to enjoy it in small sips

Drawing inspiration from one of the old bowed instruments that was most esteemed in the courts of the Late Middle Ages, sound and silence find perfect harmony in a glass of Ribeca. The Arab origins of this celebrated instrument recall the history of Sicily, a history of conquests and battles, innovation and greatness, splendour and glory.
Ribeca is a wine that tells of the extraordinary determination of a grape in danger of extinction that manages to prevail thanks to its courage to stand out. It is like an echo reverberating an age-old taste through the air, which returns to please the senses of those who are sensitive to art and delight in interpreting the role of a rebec player in a silent search for pleasure.
